IT and business process administration companies have asked most employees to do the work from home with very little staff being present at a location to handle critical work. Delhi NCR: the second phase of national lockdown begins today, the government issued new guidelines allowing all IT and E-commerce companies to work from April 20th. While the IT sector has been asked to work with up to 50% strength there are no such rules for E-commerce companies. Vehicles that can be used by E-commerce operators are also allowed to run after getting the mandatory permissions.
The digital economy is very important to the services sectors and is important for international and national growth. same as E-commerce, IT operations and IT-enabled services, Call centers for government activities, and online classes and distance learning courses are all permitted now, the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs read.
IT industry and ITeS Nasscom told that BPM, GCC, and a few more sections of the IT industry are operating at a maximum of 70% capacity harness in wake of the lockdown charge to bear the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. To cut down on salary costs, it has demanded that IT companies should be allowed to pay bench employees only minimum wages along with statutory entitlements.
Nasscom had also urged the Centre last week to refund the payroll cost of employees who were on "paid leave" on account of any COVID-19 related lockdown measures till March 31, 2021. Nasscom has also sought other accommodation and facilities which also involve tax relief. Additionally, allow all agriculture-related activities, the ministry has also allowed sectors like manufacturing, industrial units with access control in SEZs, export-oriented units, industrial estates, townships to work from April 20.
